Went to watch musical CATS at Canon Theatre about 3 months ago and surprisingly found out that Lin Zi Xiang’s MEI YI GE WAN SHANG came from the show too. ;-)

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Don’t really like the show. Went there just for MEMORY and to find out what the famous show is about. ;-)

MEMORY (lyrics)

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
Life was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every street lamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp sputters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I musn't give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The STALE cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me,
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with my memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me,
You'll understand what happiness IS
Look, a new day has begun...更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

    • Have you seen Phanton of the Opera in theatre? I mean, not movie theatre, but a theatre, a stage.
8 Years after I first saw the performance in an authentic theatre, Phantom of the Opera remains to this day my ultimate experience with Broadway musicals, and I have ever since fallen in love with the music. I can recall the vivid memory of hearing the music and songs live for the first time when I was a kid, I was immediately awe-stricken, not only by the beauty of sound, but also the spectacular stage effect they put up. The experience was so tremendous that none of the special image/audio effects in modern movies could mimick or even approach! I guess live opera performances have the effect of equal magnitude.
      • No, I've never watched The Phantom of the Opera in theatre. However, I feel how you felt 8 years ago and I feel what you feel today. A soul-stirring moment and a lifetime experience indeed!!!
And yes, I do understand the magical impact that a great live opera performance does on a person. And I'm only hoping to get more out of it… ;-)
    • 曾经在图书馆借过CATS的录像带,回来后看着看着要睡着了,想快进到MEMORY那一段看完了就算了,没想到找到那一段后发现带子发抖,而其他部分都很清楚。看来大家都看这一段就拜拜了。
    • I went to Canon Theatre with my daughter to see Wicked about a month ago. She really enjoyed it. As for me~~~
I liked the political jokes. For example, when cyclon caused a house to fly and killed a lady, the explanation is : "It's a regime change."
      • up!!好贴岂能跌入深谷!!
