'She's Like the Swallow'. Distinctive Newfoundland variant of a large family of songs about unhappy love. Both Maud Karpeles (1930) and Kenneth Peacock (1960) collected it, and its beautiful tune has made it popular with many singers. It has been arranged for choral and other use by several composers, including Peter Allen, Keith Bissell, Norman Brown, James Campbell, Craig Cassils, Donald Cook, Alfred Kunz, Ben McPeek, Godfrey Ridout, and Harry Somers.

The last song "She's Like a Swallow" sung by a 14 year old peasant girl, is a 'tear your heart out' rendition of a Newfoundland Celtic song, sure to evoke a wretching of the heart, but truly beautiful in a lonely way
